But I'm planning on keeping those wheels with another set of tires on them. I want a 16x8 wheel with a better offset so it looks more "buff". The stock ones are 40. I don't want to go 15s as they just aren't visually appealing to me. And tire size I guess I'd just keep the same 205 width. So what are my options here, r/Miata?

As far as I remember this combination fits stock NA and NB cars without modifications. 15x9. The standard offset for 15x9 wheels is 36, as popularized by 949racing. Standard tire size for these wheels is 225/45-15, though 245/40-15 Maxxis RC-1 are also an option. 36 offset puts the wheel right in the middle between the fender and the front.
It's about time for me to get new tires. Right now I have 195/55R14 Toyo Proxes on the stock daisy wheels, but it looks like they don't make that size of tire anymore. 16.02.2011 · Here are 205 50 15s on NB wheels off a later Miata. the 205 50 series really fills the wells much better than the 195 50. They clear with the stock suspension, no scrapes when bottoming out or locking the turning. Be sure to pick a light tire/wheel combo. My Miata has been extremely sensitive to wheel weight and balancing.
19.12.2006 · Having sold a couple hundred Miata steering wheels, I have sold 2 290mm wheels and 1 270mm wheel. All the rest have been 320mm. 320mm is real close to 13 inches, which is the economy wheel I sell. Stock wheel is also close to that size. A 350 would seem physically too large for a Miata. But I have never tried. Dave----
